Meet Olivia Swift – Twine and Feather Co

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself as a mom and business owner.

I’m 30 years old raising my two year old boy and 5 month old baby girl with my husband. I just started selling Arbonne as well as just started my small signage business for parties and weddings. Juggling mom life and work can be hard, but I’m having so much fun. I’m really hoping to flourish in both businesses but if I had to pick one, I’d pick my sign business. I love to let my two year old help me with the more creative stuff. Making signage is crafty, so my son gets to do crafts with me while I “work”. It’s important to me as a parent to be very involved and present with my kids. So starting a business where I can work while my kids have fun with me is my ultimate goal.

2. What three words describe you as a mom and business owner?

Badass, loving, motivated.

3. What advice would you give moms about successfully managing life as a mom and a business owner? How do you find balance and time for yourself?

Growing up, both of my parents weren’t very present because they both worked. My advice would be to hustle but not so hard that you miss out on time with your kids. Oh man, balance. I’m still figuring this out on my own. Everyday is a struggle to find balance, but we just do it! We make the best of every situation. I make sure to set work boundaries. I work before the kids get up so I can make sure to be present with them in the morning. I try to work for an hour, then spend time with my kids with my full attention on them for an hour or more. It’s a juggle, but we’re managing! I make time right now. Early mornings and late nights. Taking care of myself is a must. I’ve always been told, a happy healthy mom results in happy and healthy kids. My husband helps a lot. When he comes home from work, he gives me an hour of time for myself. To read, workout, whatever I want. Stay at home mom is a job in itself and we also need time to unwind after a long day. We’re very much a team.

4. Tell us about your business and how it impacts families in Ventura County.

I’ve only just started my signage business but I hope to create beautiful pieces of art for Ventura County events.

5. What would you say to other moms aspiring to start a business?

I’d love to be featured to inspire other moms to just go for it! Chase that dream. When we have kids, it very much feels like your life is just over and you can’t have your own goals anymore. I want to show moms that YOU CAN! Go. For. It.
