The Day Has Come

I’m sure you all have people you think of when you think of how far you have come. Many of your teacher’s, administration or even family members to thank for getting you here. Some people come into your life and change it for the better, someone you never thought would.

It’s here the day has come and for some of you this moment was very out of reach. Some of you are culminating from Elementary school to Junior high. While others are going from Junior High to High School.

You are Seniors getting out of High school to attend college. At one point looking back at even younger me I never thought I would finish. But if you could talk to the younger versions of you in your head; what have you said? We did it?

You Did It

Graduation day is a day of accomplishment, it’s a big part of every student’s academic career. It’s a stamp and a seal of approval from not just their parents but from administration and peers. Today we celebrate all the challenging work and achievements that have brought them this far.

It has been a long journey for some and what felt like a short one for others. We have gone through a pandemic that separated us from being able to even do the simple things in life.

Your parents all have an overwhelming sense of pride. Getting up every day to take you to school, lunches, school clothes and backpacks. They too are graduating today with you. The difference is your accomplishments, awards and challenging work are yours.

To Our Children

Our children never think about this moment because they are too busy in the now. They think about what it would be like in the future. Thinking about a cap and gown is just so out of reach till it gets here. What are they going to even wear under the cap and gown? But we did, as parents we want them to succeed and grow.

All the proud moments or even the moments that made us mad. We think about these kids as babies. Tears fill our eyes with joy and happiness. Thinking of what they can be now that they are older.

As we think about the role our children will play in our society, a scientist? botanist? A doctor? When we work hard all we want is the recognition or to even be told by those around us that they are proud. Graduation is to be celebrated by all in a big way.

The Journey

Whatever journey you are on, today is an ending to a chapter and the beginning of a new one. For others it’s just the beginning of an incredible life. You should be so happy and proud of yourself for all you have been through and all your accomplishments. Even through a pandemic mask mandate, you gracefully took it in stride which was incredibly difficult. Congratulations on a job well done!
