In our house, the Easter Bunny always comes to visit each Easter. It is always so exciting to dye the hard boiled eggs and get down the girl’s special Easter baskets. At one point my daughter even wrote a note to the Easter Bunny asking “him” questions and asking him to write back. That was a fun one to navigate! Every year, we anxiously await the Easter Bunny and all the exciting Easter activities.

The Stress of Preparing for Easter

Although the idea of dyeing eggs, pictures in colorful, matching outfits, and running to find colorful Easter eggs filled with candy sounds wonderful; as a Mom this can bring fear to the hearts of many. The stress of preparing a magical experience again this year, can raise the anxiety level of even the calmest woman from 1 level 10 rather quickly.

The Eggs

The thought of hiding all those Easter eggs…and oh and don’t forget you will have to try and remember where you hid them too! That is always a plus each year! (Any Moms out there ever made a map or cheat sheet on where you hid the eggs, just so you can be sure you found them all?) Because there is always that one egg you are frantically trying to recall where it was hid at the end of the hunt!

The Easter Basket

Then there is the pressure of filing the magical Easter basket. It brings about the age old question on what do you fill your baskets with? Do you fill it with candy, with toys, with some enticing, one of a kind gift from the all knowing Easter Bunny? So begins the quest, as we Moms wander all around the town, in our spare time of course, picking little trinkets to fill their baskets.  We pick up special sugary treats that we will surely regret later, when our kids are bouncing off the walls. Or will the candy even make it to the basket, as sometimes I have to buy multiple bags, just in case I happen to begin eating a piece of candy, or two or three, or THE WHOLE ENTIRE BAG!

But It Is All Worth It

As the years went by, the items in the basket may have changed, but the overall basket continued to be present at each and every Easter at our home. The ritual of dyeing the eggs never seemed to grow old, even though my girls continued to grow older with each passing year. As a Mom, I enjoyed each and every minute of it! Who wouldn’t want to continue to prolong these special memories for as long as I can, even if it is a bit stressful!

So as another Easter approaches, I will once again, prep for the annual dyeing of the eggs and will once again frantically run around town in search of the perfect gifts and trinkets for their Easter baskets.  It might feel crazy in the moments preparing but the memories are all worth it.
